It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was out Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
